“I’m gonna give it a go!” Clark proclaimed.
“I’ll tell the wife and kids you love them!” said Amos, smugly.
Clark rolled his eyes, “Out with it, then.”
“Remember Ralph? Last seen eating one of them things you’re on about.”
Clark sighed and tossed the rubbery object over his shoulder. He glanced across the yard and his face lit up. Amos caught sight of it too.
“I’ll distract the mutt,” said Clark.
“Beware the kid with the slingshot!”
Clark ran along the top rail of the fence and squealed. The dog gave chase, barking frantically. Amos scurried to the plate of fresh bird seed and stuffed his cheeks.
